About Still On Watch

A Mission Built on Stories

Still on Watch is a publishing initiative dedicated to veterans and first responders who have served their communities—and who still carry the stories of that service.

For many who have worn the uniform, the hardest part of service is not the job itself. It’s what comes afterward.

The silence.
The memories.
The sense that the world has moved on while part of you is still standing watch.

Still on Watch exists to make sure those stories are not lost—and that those who lived them are not alone.

Through books, storytelling, and collaborative publishing, we help veterans and first responders share their experiences with the world.

Not as therapy.
Not as complaint.
But as testimony.

Stories that matter.
Stories that connect people.
Stories that remind us what service really looks like.

Why Stories Matter

Stories have always been how societies pass wisdom from one generation to the next.

A well-told story can do something statistics and speeches cannot:

It can reach someone who feels alone and remind them that someone else has walked the same road.

Many veterans and first responders carry powerful experiences that never get spoken aloud. Sometimes that silence grows heavy.

Putting those experiences into words can change that.

Stories can restore connection.
Stories can build understanding between civilians and those who served.
Stories can help others realize they are not the only ones fighting quiet battles.

And sometimes, a story can save a life.

How Still on Watch Works

Still on Watch helps veterans and first responders turn their experiences into published books.

Some stories are written as memoir.
Others are told through narrative nonfiction.
Some are fictionalized accounts that protect privacy while preserving the lessons of the story.

Each project is developed through a collaborative writing process designed to make publishing approachable—even for those who never imagined themselves as writers.

The result is a growing library of stories about service, resilience, leadership, and life after the uniform.

Books that honor the past while helping others find their way forward.

The Library of the Long Watch

Every story published through Still on Watch becomes part of a growing archive of lived experience.

A library built not by academics or historians—but by the men and women who lived the story themselves.

Stories of service.
Stories of loss and recovery.
Stories of mentorship, leadership, and rebuilding life after the uniform.

Together, they form what we call The Library of the Long Watch—a record of those who served and what they carried home.

Who We Work With

Still on Watch works with:

• Military veterans
• Law enforcement officers
• Firefighters
• EMTs and paramedics
• Other first responders whose work placed their lives at risk

Whether the story comes from a war zone, a patrol car, a fire-ground, or the quiet struggles of life after service, the goal is the same:

To share stories that matter.

Connected to a Larger Mission

Still on Watch is closely aligned with the work of The Veterans Club, a national organization dedicated to building community and reducing suicide among veterans and first responders.

The Veterans Club focuses on bringing people together in person.

Still on Watch helps bring their stories to the world.

Together, these efforts work toward the same goal:

Making sure those who served never feel forgotten.

Share Your Story

If you are a veteran or first responder who has a story worth telling, we would be honored to hear from you.

You don’t need to be a professional writer.
You don’t need to have everything figured out.

All you need is a story that deserves to be told.

Reach out and start the conversation.

Because some stories deserve to live long after the watch has ended.
